Extreme Screenwriting's objective is to assist screenwriters with mastering the commercial screenplay. Writing a screenplay with literary value and commercial value will greatly increase a screenwriter’s chances for a sale in the fiercely competitive spec screenplay market. Extreme Screenwriting's founder, Barb Doyon is a Professional Script Consultant with over ten years experience working in the entertainment industry providing script coverage to production companies (many with studio deals), actors/actresses, directors, producers and screenwriters. Extreme Screenwriting's clients have gone on to win and be finalists in top competitions, have their films produced or optioned and several currently have films in production. While others have received their first-ever requests for reads and are beginning to see the results they’ve worked so hard for. Extreme Screenwriting provides two outlets for assisting clients with mastering a commercial screenplay: - Reviews of screenplays and teleplays. Unlike standard studio-style coverage, Extreme Screenwriting’s reviews provide in-depth notes referenced by page # with “specifics” on how-to fix the problem while commercializing the material so it’s market ready. The reviews are kept at a low cost so screenwriters won’t have to mortgage their homes to afford professional coverage of their material. To choose the reviews best suited for your needs, go to the Home page and click on the Script Reviews button. - The FREE Extreme Screenwriting Monthly Newsletter provides a monthly Featured Articles, as well as a Formatting article and useful Tips. Screenwriters can advertise their work in this newsletter for a small fee. The newsletter currently goes out to screenwriters, production companies, WGA signatory agents, managers, directors and actors/actresses. A Featured Screenwriters section highlights clients whose material received a “recommend” from the service during the previous month. To subscribe, go to the Home page. Emails are never sold and kept confidential. Note: Production companies seeking standard or expedited coverage, please go straight to the Store Button, scroll to the bottom of the page and select coverage desired. Instructions for sending material for coverage will be sent via e-mail.
TESTIMONIALS I wouldn't even think of submitting a screenplay without having Barb read it first. She has an uncanny ability to identify problems and pinpoint exactly what your script needs in order to take it to the next level. Her notes are spot on, her suggestions creative and often inspired, and she's more than generous with her time and expertise. And just when you thought it couldn't get any better... her rates are dirt-cheap! She's the best bargain out there. Steve Allrich - Screenwriter
I’ve been writing screenplays for over 20 years and just discovered Extreme Screenwriting about a year ago. I wish I had found it sooner. I’ve had Barb review two of my screenplays and her comments are right on the money in terms of story, character and even commercial potential. And speaking of money, Barb’s service is an incredible value. I don’t think you could find a better script analyst for ten times the price. Barb is also very fast and delivers right on the date she promises. Plus she’s always there when you need her with additional questions. I recommend Barb and Extreme Screenwriting without reservation. Larry Postel - Screenwriter
Barb truly cares about writers that transcends analyzing scripts. That caring attitude I believe is the foundation behind her unique script analysis...the lady knows her business (another unique aspect about her service because she also works successfully in the industry) and just as important -- Barb understands the ins and outs to "picking a script" apart from every angle. Barb went above and beyond and suggested a more appropriate title change (to "Lady Jazz" - I love it!!) and her several generous pages of insightful notes referencing page numbers, dialogue, subtext, plot, theme, etc. etc. etc. hit nails on the head that made it very apparent she understood my genre (film noir) and what my story was saying. Barb again went above and beyond explaining in concise and easy-to-understand words why this/that worked, suggesting how to punch up this and tone down that, etc. that again told me she cared enough to dig deeply into the script. I also appreciated that Barb didn't sugar-coat the difficulty "Lady" would encounter in this crazy movie-making business. However her belief that I did have something here has never wavered and I am eternally thankful I have Barb in my corner. She is a valued friend and someone I respect and admire and turn to before anyone lays eyes on my scripts. Thank you beyond words, Barb! Jean Hunter - Screenwriter Note: Jean Hunter won the last Red Inkworks contest for her screenplay "Lady Jazz" and placed 4th in their 2006 contest for her screenplay "Slade"
I recommend Ms. Doyon to anyone who would like a precise, in-depth, reasonably priced, and timely review. Her comments are invaluable. Her CD-ROM contains information on the business of screenwriting that I haven't found anywhere else. Don't hesitate to take advantage of her expertise. Sincerely, Denice Lewis - Screenwriter
Ms. Doyon, you are to be commended for your clear, concise, and "on the money" report that I received from your service. Your comments and suggestions for my screenplay "Special Delivery" were excellent and really well worth the money - what a nice, pleasant surprise. If you are a serious writer looking for a professional and objective evaluation of your material, then I fully recommend Ms. Doyon's Extreme Screenwriting service. Ed Nejeschleba - Writer/Producer
It would be impossible for me to overstate the benefits I've received from Extreme Screenwriting. Barb Doyon's astute observations and guidance have taken my writing to a level I would not have reached otherwise. She has an amazing knack for identifying my project's weaknesses and indicating what needs to be done. The only drawback to Extreme Screenwriting is that it's extremely addictive. I simply couldn't imagine doing without it. Eric Sentell - Screenwriter Note: Eric’s high-concept comedy “I Married a Porn Star” was the winner of The Extreme Screenplay Contest, which made Eric the recipient of WGA signatory agent representation and he’ll receive a year of free review from Extreme Screenwriting.
I consider finding out about Barb Doyon's consulting service a turning point in my writing career. After making changes and revisiting my work based on Barb's insightful inputs, I have received numerous requests for reads from production companies and made a great contact with a manager. Barb's services are unmatched in the industry and she really cares about new writers. I cannot recommend her highly enough! Rachel Watson - Screenwriter
"I've used Barb's services for the ten scripts I've written to date. I wouldn't consider sending one out without her reviewing it. Thoughtful comments and on-time service at a great price." Armando Rodriguez - Screenwriter
"Barb Doyon goes beyond the standard "premise isn't working and pump up characters" notes received all too often from producers and gets to the heart of what is ailing the script. With her detailed notes and suggestions, I've been able to turn scripts over to my agent with confidence, knowing they're polished enough to show producers. My script doesn't go anywhere before going through her first. She's a lifesaver" Laurie Halter - Screenwriter |
